Take Asuran Scan, Brutal Weapon, Glass Arrows, "I am the Strongest", Needling Shot and several high-damage attacks. Use the weapon spell and the preparation before stepping on the final stone. Unless you get very unlucky the Doppleganger will not use the skills correctly and using the high-damage attacks will drop him below 50% HP in no time, at which point all that bonus damage will let you Needle him to death in seconds.

(Ripped ele tactics off the ele forum)
X / Elementalist Flare + Glyph of Sacrifice. He will Glyph + Flare which gives his Flare a 30 sec cooldown, you just spam flare. // Place Iron Mist on your bar, and take NO lightning damage spells. This way he will hex you and make you immune to non lightning damage. - - - Or just fill your bar with Nature rituals and he will cast em all, giving you some time to shoot him in his face. >_> |

what's wrong with using ranger skills?
 Or better yet, making him abuse them... bring Famine/QZ/concussion/expert focus/volley with no expertise or marksmanship and high WS  heck, throw in a few traps while you are at it. Then go in and hide

Straight Ranger: 3 spirits, expert's focus, burning arrow, penetrating, sundering and needling shots. Dead before he can attack-15 seconds with a vamp recurve.

I like watching my mountain eagle rip him to shreds with almost zero retaliation. He has no pet, so almost any pet build is great.
